Donald A. Nolan is Chairman of the Board for Apogee Enterprises, an industry leader in architectural products and services. Prior to Apogee, Don was the president, chief executive officer and a member of the board of directors of Kennametal, Inc. Prior to joining Kennametal, Mr. Nolan served as president of Avery Dennison’s Materials Group. At Avery Dennison, Mr. Nolan harnessed the company’s operational strengths and accelerated organic growth with an acute focus on customer engagement, brand-savvy marketing, and commercially successful innovation.
Prior to Avery Dennison, Mr. Nolan led market-focused strategies in executive roles at Valspar Corporation, a global leader in the paint and coatings industry. Earlier in his career, he served in marketing and sales positions with Loctite Corporation, Ashland Chemical Company, and General Electric Company. He started his career at Latrobe Steel, then a subsidiary of the Timken Company.
Mr. Nolan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in materials and metallurgical engineering from the University of Michigan; a Master of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute; and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Michigan.
