Tia has had a career dedicated to improving and protecting our environment. She had an eighteen-year career in the Office of Transportation and Air Quality (OTAQ) at the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Tia began her EPA tenure as a student intern working on aircraft emission models at EPA’s National Vehicle and Fuel Emissions Laboratory in Ann Arbor, MI. Following graduation from the University of Michigan Aerospace Engineering Department in 2000, she began her full-time career at EPA, where she helped develop and implement mobile source rulemakings for gasoline, diesel, and renewable fuels. During that time, Tia carried on her dedication to public service, serving as a Congressional Environment and Energy Fellow for the Office of former Michigan Senator Carl Levin.
In her last four years at EPA, Tia worked as a Regulatory and Congressional Coordinator and Senior Policy Advisor in OTAQ’s Washington, DC Headquarters office. In this role, she co-coordinated the regulatory development process, served as a liaison to the Office of Management and Budget, and covered a myriad of policy matters for the office. In 2019, Tia made a move to Chicago to begin a new phase of her career working at the Truck and Engine Manufacturers Association. In 2022, Tia transitioned to Senior Policy Advisory with the American Petroleum Institute.
An avid Wolverine alumna, Tia is a past Chair of the Michigan Engineering Alumni Board (MEAB), currently serves on both the College of Engineering’s Leadership Advisory Board (LAB) and the Aero Department Industrial Advisory Board (IAB), and she rarely misses a football game.
